BRIEF
To create the Roller Skates fashion collection at Cath Kidston, my tasks included leading the design and development process. I had to ensure the collection encompassed women's and kids' clothing with embroidery and print repeat patterns. Additionally, I was responsible for designing graphic placement socks and t-shirts featuring animals from other parts of the seasonal collection, catering to both women and children's wear.
ACTION
To execute the collection, I utilized Photoshop to create repeat print designs and simplified drawings for embroidery. I carefully selected thread colors for the factory's use. I developed a separate repeat pattern for kids, but encountered a challenge when the kids' and women's factories' results didn't align. With a tight deadline, I collaborated with the merchandise team and decided to produce the kids' garments in the women's wear factory.
OUTCOME
By successfully meeting lead times, I ensured the garments were manufactured on schedule, meeting the deadline. The Roller Skates collection received positive feedback and was well-received. The women's and kids' dresses matched seamlessly, leading to impressive photoshoots of the mini-me concept. Overall, the collection exhibited sophistication and cohesiveness, was well-received by customers and helped to drive sales for Cath Kidston.
Roller Skates Embroidery
The Roller Skates Chambray dress for girls was inspired by the main collection Skate party story. This Spring/Summer collection included repeat prints of Roller Skates and an Animal Skate party. I took elements from these prints and redrew, recolored and put them into a repeat tile that would work for embroidery.
Animal Roller Skate Placement Print
Inspired by the Animal Skate party all-over print from the main range, the Roller Skates socks for women were brought to life. Drawing upon key elements from the print, I crafted glittery-based socks adorned with retro Roller skater sock-inspired stripes. Additionally, I designed a vibrant pajama t-shirt featuring playful characters, infusing the collection with a delightful sense of fun.
